Today is Wednesday, otherwise known as hump day.
Thankfully since I mostly run my own schedule (thanks to entrepreneurship/ flexible contract work) I tend to not get a case of “I can’t wait until Friday!” syndrome. The week goes by and I am pretty happy with each day. Sometimes I even forget what day it is!
Instead, I have a different set of schedule challenges. In my case I call it being extremely passionate about and committed to the work I do, but others might call it being a workaholic. It’s such a gift to be able to be excited about work (for the most part) each day, but when there are no boundaries around when it needs to stop it can be a problem.
Now before you get carried away and start thinking that I need an intervention or something because I never stop working, I want to be clear that I do have good boundaries around my work because I know myself and the way I get zoned into developing projects and ideas. But I also know that sometimes it’s time to reevaluate these boundaries. Especially when we are in a demanding season (like I am right now, trying to finish a feature film in the next month! Yikes!).
And though it goes against all logic I believe that sometimes we need even more down time than normal when we have high pressure situations to attend to. With that said, for the past few weeks I have been noticing that when Wednesday hits I am EXHAUSTED! I am mentally and physically drained because I always hit the ground running on Monday and Tuesday. But by Wednesday my body is telling me “sleep more! Relax! Be outside! Decompress.” So instead of pushing it off I am going to listen and am thinking about turning Wednesday into my “Wellness Wednesday” where I take most of the day off to relax, pray, walk, journal and read – all with the focus of refreshing and centering my heart and mind.
So there you have it, my wellness Wednesday! I’ll let you know how it goes, but in the mean time –
Is there a time in your week that you devote to wellness? If not, are you thinking of making a change? In why why?
I’d love to hear from you so please comment and share some love!!
